The nature of the dust has a great influence on the technology and design
of the dust collector. For some special properties of the dust, effective
measures must be taken according to the design experience.
(1) Adhesion and cohesion. Adhesive and cohesive dust enters the dust
collector, and the dust particles will become larger after agglomeration. The
dust accumulated on the surface of the filter element can continue to condense
during the process of being shaken off. The dust removal efficiency and the dust
passing through the filter material The amount is also related to the adhesion
and cohesion of dust. Therefore, when designing dust with very significant
adhesion and cohesion, or dust with almost no adhesion and cohesion, it must be
different according to the type of dust and the purpose.
(2) Particle size. The main influence of particle size distribution on the
dust collector is resistance loss and wear. Fine dust has a greater impact on
pressure loss, and coarse dust has a decisive effect on wear, but only particles
with high dust concentration and high hardness at the inlet have a greater
impact.
(3) Particle shape. It is generally believed that needle-shaped crystal
particles and flake-shaped particles are likely to block the pores of the filter
material and reduce the dust removal efficiency. The fibrous particles that can
agglomerate into flocs are difficult to fall off the surface of the filter
material if the filter speed is high. Different filter wind speeds are selected
according to the particle shape and characteristics.
(4) The density of particles. The bulk density of dust is related to
particle size, cohesion, and adhesion, as well as the resistance loss and filter
area of the filter element of the dust collector. The smaller the bulk
density, the more difficult it is to clean the dust. The design should choose a
lower filtration wind speed. In addition, the bulk density of dust is critical
to the capacity of the selected dust collector.
(5) Hygroscopicity and deliquescent. Dust with strong hygroscopicity and
deliquescence, during the operation of the dust collector, it is easy to absorb
moisture and solidify on the surface of the filter material, or it will
deliquesce and become a thick substance when it meets with water, causing
difficulty in cleaning dust, increased equipment resistance, and even impact The
dust collector is operating normally.
(6) Static electricity. Once the easily charged dust generates static
electricity on the filter material, it is not easy to fall off. For the very
easily charged dust, technical measures such as anti-static filter material must
be adopted to avoid explosion caused by sparks caused by static electricity.
(7) Flammability. For combustible dust, although it does not necessarily
cause an explosion, if sparks appear in the process before the dust collector
and can enter the dust collector, explosion-proof measures should be adopted,
such as the addition of spark traps and explosion-proof doors.
