What’s in Soldering Fumes?

CONTAMINANT TYPE / 01

Flux Fumes

Rosin-based and other flux systems vaporize during soldering and condense into sticky, fine particles that irritate the respiratory tract. The residue coats boards, fixtures and ducting, and clogs filters.

CONTAMINANT TYPE / 02

Solder Fumes & Fine Particles

Heated solder alloys release fine particulates along with the flux fume, especially in continuous or high-volume soldering.

CONTAMINANT TYPE / 03

VOCs from Coatings, Adhesives & Solvents

Conformal coating, potting, gluing and cleaning solvents release volatile organic compounds that require gas-phase adsorption.

Why Soldering Fume Control Matters for Production?

Residue contamination

Flux residue settles on boards, fixtures and reflow oven conveyors, increasing cleaning effort and the risk of rework.

Duct and oven fouling

Condensed flux builds up in exhaust ducts and oven zones, requiring frequent maintenance stops.

Filters that clog fast

Sticky flux residue loads ordinary filters quickly. Without proper pre-filtration, suction drops and filters need constant replacement.

Line-level visibility

On automated lines, an extractor failure can go unnoticed until quality or compliance issues appear. Remote monitoring and alarms prevent that.

SOLDERING Fume Extraction by Process

Choose fume extraction by the soldering process—not just by line size. From hand soldering and reflow to complete PCB assembly, PURE-AIR configurations match source capture, multi-stage filtration and monitoring to the fumes, throughput and layout of your operation.

PROCESS APPLICATION / HAND & AUTOMATED

Hand & Automated Soldering Fume Extraction

A compact, cost-efficient unit that is easy to relocate and simple to install. 360° adjustable extraction arms capture lead-free solder fumes, conformal coating VOCs and reflow particulates right at the work point, keeping operators safe without restricting movement.

  • 360° adjustable extraction arms for precise source capture
  • Multi-operator configurations available
  • Easy to install and relocate

PROCESS APPLICATION / WAVE & REFLOW

Wave & Reflow Soldering Fume Extraction

Wave and reflow lines produce continuous flux vapor and particulates. These systems use a 10 to 18KPa high-negative-pressure brushless fan and a large-area, multi-stage filter (F8 + H14) with a special activated carbon filter to handle both particles and gases.

  • 10–18KPa high-negative-pressure brushless fan
  • F8 + H14 multi-stage, large-area, high-precision filtration
  • Special activated carbon filter for VOC and odor

PROCESS APPLICATION / PCB ASSEMBLY

PCB Assembly & Manufacturing Fume and Dust Purification

For whole-line installations, remote control and monitoring keep every extractor running as intended. Any alarm or fault is sent to the central control system in time, protecting line safety and efficiency.

  • Remote control and monitoring
  • Alarm and fault transmission to central control
  • Scalable from single stations to full production lines

Frequently Asked Questions

A soldering fume extractor captures flux fumes and solder particles at the work point, filters them through particle and activated carbon stages, and returns clean air to the workspace.

Mainly flux fumes, fine particles from the solder alloy, and, if you use conformal coating, adhesives or solvents, VOCs.

Yes. Lead-free processes still generate flux fumes and fine particles, and lead-free soldering typically runs at higher temperatures.

Hand stations need flexible, arm-based source capture. Wave and reflow lines produce continuous fumes and need higher-pressure, integrated systems with larger filter area and monitoring.

Consider the soldering process, number of stations, flux and coating materials, and whether you need line-level monitoring. Send us these details and we will recommend a configuration.
